Owner and CEO: Raja Daswani –– Raja Fashions certainly rules Hong Kong’s custom tailoring trade. Having custom tailored suits for professional men and women since 1957, the business has set itself a reputation that stretches seamlessly across the globe. So impressive is their name in England, home of bespoke tailoring, that their customer base - said to include the House of Lords and Downing street - covers all of the major cities here in addition to cities all around the world in Scotland and Ireland, the USA, France, Germany and Japan.
The family enterprise was no different from that of Saville Row. When Raja assumed the mantle, he began to position the enterprise a few cuts above the rest. The push for change came in 1997, after the handover of Hong Kong to China, Many of Raja’s British expatriate customers returned to the UK. Raja and his team went to after their customers, taking their local tailoring enterprise global.
Website features and ease of ordering. Raja Fashions provide online shoppers with an easy way of placing orders. The steps are very detailed. Customers can define collar point length and collar back height. They also offer customers the freedom to choose the color of the shirt’s button-hole and pick-stitch for the collar and cuffs. However, when it comes to measurement you will need help from a local tailor to help you measure. The website does not offer instructions on how to measure on your own.
Fabric Selection and Quality. Raja’s stock about 20,000 fabrics ranging from affordable to exclusive. Few bespoke tailors offer such a wide selection on the spot.
Customer Service and Delivery. Made-to-measure shirts ordered online usually take 3-5 weeks to get delivered. Orders taken from overseas take approximately 4-6 weeks. However they offer express delivery of about 2 weeks at an extra cost. Online reviews on the other hand seem to contradict the quality and art that Raja Fashion portrays in their website. Off the 25 customer reviews on http://www.reviewcentre.com/reviews111879.html, only 7 seem to have given Raja Fashion a fairly satisfied rating. Most of the negative comments focused on how the shirt/suit fits even if they had been personally measured by Raja staff. Fabric quality and cost was also considered.
Price. Custom shirts range in price from US$50 to US$500, depending on the material. Suits range from US $350 to US$5,000, also depending on the material.
Other Services Offered. More than a men’s custom tailor shop, Raja Fashions also caters to women who likes their dress custom-made.
Aside from their physical retail store in Kowloon, Hong Kong, Raja tailors also regularly visits Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Switzerland, The Netherlands, UK and USA. Appointment dates are visible in their website.
